Health, Safety and Environment

Eli Lilly is committed to making high-quality medicines responsibly. We aim to achieve world-class Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) performance by operating to excellent safety standards, while minimising use of natural resources and our impact on the environment.

At Kinsale, we support a strong EHS culture and highly value employee engagement and participation in our continuous improvement programs. The interdependent elements of Safety, Fitness, Health and Wellbeing form the core of our Health and Safety Culture program, ‘Live4Life’, which focuses both at an individual and site level.

A key focus area is the appreciation, respect and involvement with our local Kinsale community. The site has well established programmes which maintain, monitor and confirm the quality of the ambient air, the flora and fauna and the local marine habitat. A study of the Kinsale Harbour is maintained by the National University of Ireland Galway. It has been running for over thirty years and is one of the longest term studies of marine coastline and habitat conducted anywhere in the world.

We are also a member of the internationally recognised ‘Responsible Care initiative’ which aims to drive continuous improvement in EHS performance, by meeting and exceeding legislative and regulatory compliance requirements, and by adopting cooperative and voluntary initiatives with government and other stakeholders.
