The engineer in this role should: (i) Know the process flow for the processes supported including process chemistry, critical control parameters and process safety attributes. (ii) Have a deep understanding of the unit operations deployed and be able to analyse/improve them using first principles. (iii) Understand the detail of equipment operation, instrumentation & process control and how they interact to manage the processes in terms of product quality & process safety attributes. (iv) Have a thorough understanding of the relationship between chemistry, unit operations, equipment and the operator. (v) Use computer-based modelling, simulation & analysis to look for improvement opportunities and to analyse problems. (vi) Have the ability to identify hazards and assess their relative risk. (vii) Understand the information and data requirements associated with production. (iv) Understand and apply root cause analysis and problem solving techniques. (v) Understand the business processes that are used to support production and use them to achieve the objectives that they have e.g. change control, deviations etc. (vi) Strive to acquire the ability to design/scale-up of processes from pilot plant or other production facilities. Scope: Per above Personal Considerations: As the Kinsale site operates on a 24/7 basis, the job may involve contact out of hours to provide technical assistance, possible non-scheduled call-in time to respond to plant emergencies and occasional scheduled call-in time to conduct process schools or provide technical cover during technical transfers and major project activity. Because of the critical importance of new products to the site, it is also envisaged that the role may be required to spend an amount of time working with his/her counterparts of a development site or third party site prior to transfer of the process to Kinsale. Knowing in-depth the processes and unit operations. Acting as consultant/coach to operators and technical support group on all of the above. Supporting daily operations in making approved product. Improving productivity i.e. identifying and implementing improvement projects to allow the rig to meet stretch cycle time goals, including equipment optimization and reliability issues. Monitoring and acting on plant and process performance. Troubleshooting, analysing and fixing problems i.e. evaluating deviations/trends involving equipment or processing incidents and recommending/implementing countermeasures. Applying incident management, deviation, change control and PHR business processes. Writing SOPs, incident reports, project scope documents, functional specification for software changes, Hazard Review meeting minutes etc. Ensuring P+ID's for rig are up-to-date and correctly red lined as changes are implemented. Maintaining the unit in a qualified state. Writing the PQE. Owning the PSI, Gantt chart and model of the rig. Providing input to capacity strategy for the building/site i.e. identifying and preparing business cases for improvement investments. Prioritizing capital projects for the area and guiding through to RCA approval i.e. scope, design and commission for smaller projects or building/business rep for larger projects. Integrating projects onto the rig, typically <250K. Leading area subgroups such as environmental or safety. In carrying out his/her responsibilities, the role is expected to work very closely with a wide spectrum of disciplines/people and must have the interpersonal skills to effectively do so. He/she will work in a process flow team but will have primary responsibility for the process equipment.
