| Kinsale History
As a company,
our commitment to the present and future well-being of people and the
environment is a natural extension of our mission of improving health.
At Kinsale, we are committed to taking the necessary measures to ensure
the safety of the people who work at the site and live in the local community.
Kinsale's
waste management policy is based on minimising the waste generated by
our processes. A proactive approach to recycling waste produced is adopted.
(80% of the solvent used is regenerated in the site's extensive recovery
facilities). Where waste cannot be recycled, it is treated using the best
technology to meet the strictest in international standards. To date, a
third of the money spent on the facility in Kinsale has been devoted to
environmental controls.
Community
Meetings
For a number
of years, the site has hosted regular meetings of the local community where
our neighbours are updated on operations, new developments and questions
are answered.
Promote
Industry-Education Links
The company
has partnered with local schools to help students and teachers gain a
valuable insight into the workplace through plant tours, interactive visits,
career talks, school projects and short placements. This has also helped
to promote science as a subject at second level.
Work
Experience Programmes
The company
partners with many third level colleges throughout Ireland in many different
disciplines to give students experience in their chosen areas. The company
also initiated programmes of work experience with structured job training
in process operations. This has provided many young people with certified
qualification and enabled them to gain jobs throughout the pharmaceutical
sector.
Background
Studies
Extensive
studies of the local flora and fauna, Kinsale harbour and air quality
have all been completed by Irish third level researchers over a number
of years.
