Eli Lilly and Company's bulk pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in Dunderrow, Kinsale began manufacturing in 1981. The plant employs approximately 450 people fulltime.

The Kinsale facility manufactures the active ingredient for a number of Lilly's most important human health medicines. The products from Kinsale are shipped to finishing plants around the world where they are converted to final dosage forms such as tablets, capsules or injectibles.

The site also produces some active ingredients for Elanco Animal Health, a division of Eli Lilly and Company. These products are primarily used for cattle, poultry and pigs.
