PRIVACY POLICY – lilly.ie WEBSITE

SCOPE

Eli Lilly S.A. – Irish Branch and Eli Lilly and Company (Ireland) Ltd. (collectively referred to as “Lilly”) respect the privacy of visitors to our website. As a result, we have developed this website privacy statement. The website privacy statement applies only to the operation of this website owned by Lilly and hosted by BT Communications Ireland Limited (referred to as “BT”) that directly links to the statement when you click on "Privacy Policy" in the website menu.

PERSONAL INFORMATION COLLECTED AND PROCESSED

Through lilly.ie (the “Site”), Lilly may collect various information about you as follows:

Web Server Logs. Like the vast majority of Internet websites, web server log information is automatically gathered from you when you visit the Site by the computer that hosts the Site (called a "web server"). The log files are under the control and ownership of BT. Whilst it is Lilly's responsibility to upload/manage and back up any informational content on the server, Lilly may from time to time request certain information from BT. The web server automatically recognises some non-personal information, such as your IP Address (see also below), the date and time you visited the Site, the pages you visited on the Site, the website you came from, the type of browser you are using (e.g. Internet Explorer), the type of operating system you are using (e.g. Windows 2000) and the domain name and address of your Internet Service Provider (e.g. AOL). If the Site is using cookies (which is disclosed below), the web server will also collect this information. We may review the server logs to see what website pages are being visited to get a better understanding of how the Site is being used by our visitors. This is popularly known as Web Statistics and would allow us to maintain and enhance our service. In addition, in cases of system abuse, we may use this information in conjunction with your Internet Service Provider and/or local authorities to trace the source of any such abuse.

IP Addresses. Internet Protocol (IP) Addresses of users of the website are captured and stored by BT and may, upon the request of Lilly and at the sole discretion of BT, be provided to Lilly for informational purposes. An IP Address is a number assigned to your computer by your Internet Service Provider so you can access the Internet. Generally, an IP address changes each time you connect to the Internet (it is a "dynamic" address). Note, however, that if you have a broadband connection, depending on your individual circumstance, it is possible that your IP Address that is collected, or even perhaps a cookie we use, may contain information that could be deemed identifiable. This is because with some broadband connections your IP Address doesn't change (it is "static") and could be associated with your personal computer. IP Addresses are used as part of the web server log information as stated above.

Cookies. The Site could in the future use a technology called a "cookie". A cookie is a piece of information that our web server would send to your computer (actually to your browser file) when you access the Site. This section details what cookies we could set, how to find cookies on your machine and how to change your privacy settings to restrict the use of cookies.

Please keep in mind that restricting the use of cookies could impact your user experience and result in this (and other) sites becoming inaccessible for you. We could in the future use the following types of cookies on the Site:

i) Web trends

Our Web server could install a cookie on your machine in order to aid the accuracy of a statistical program called "web trends". While a profile could be built up of a user's surfing habits through the use of this cookie, the cookie itself would contain no personal information. We could use these profiles to establish common surfing patterns of our users, which would help us to maintain and enhance the service we provide. This cookie would remain on your computer indefinitely, even after you leave the Site.

ii) Session Cookies

As you surf around the Site, there could be times when we need to remember technical information about you as you surf page to page. We could use this technical information in a multitude of ways to enhance your user experience. This cookie would contain no personally identifiable information and would only last until you end your session and leave the Site.

iii) Persistent or Login Session Cookie

When you log into a restricted area, we could set a cookie on your PC to remember your login details. This could be used for your convenience so that on subsequent visits, you would not be required to provide the entire login information again. This cookie would remain on your computer indefinitely, even after you leave the Site.

Third party cookies on the Site. Lilly would not allow third parties to set cookies on your computer through the Site unless these cookies were set at our request and would be under our direct control and not used or accessed by such third party except as set forth in this Privacy Policy.
