For nearly 100 years, Lilly has been committed to diabetes and meeting the needs of people affected by diabetes with treatment options, support programs and more.
Lilly’s Commitment to Diabetes
Lilly has been a global leader in diabetes care since 1923, when we introduced the world's first commercial insulin. Today we are building upon this heritage by working to meet the diverse needs of people with diabetes and those who care for them. Through research, collaboration and quality manufacturing we strive to make life better for people impacted by diabetes. We offer a wide range of therapies and a continued determination to provide real solutions—from medicines and technologies to support programmes and more.
In developing countries around the world, we’re sharing our strength and passion with local governments and health care providers to create sustainable diabetes management programs that meet real needs. This includes our Life for a Child Partnership, through which Lilly has donated 2.1 million vials of insulin since 2008. The programme provides access to care, education and life-saving medicines and supplies to children with diabetes in developing countries. Lilly is the sole provider of insulin to the partnership.
