Lilly has been operating in Ireland for four decades, and today the company employs over 3,000 people across three sites.

Lilly’s first investment in Ireland began in 1978, with the purchase of a farm in the West Cork countryside, near Kinsale. Today the campus includes three high-technology manufacturing platforms – Chemistry, Biology and Peptides – and supplies active ingredient for both clinical trial development and commercial use, making it one of the few such sites in the world.

Lilly Global Business Solutions (GBS) in Little Island, Cork, was established in 2010 and has evolved from shared service provider to a global business partner, driving performance across multiple functions in Lilly’s key business units. From Clinical Development, to Finance, to Patient Support, the GBS teams are now central to the end-to-end delivery of life-saving medicines for patients worldwide. Currently GBS Cork employs over 1,700 employees across 62 nationalities, speaking over 50 languages.

We are currently developing Lilly Limerick, a state-of-the-art biotech manufacturing campus, at a greenfield site in Raheen, Co. Limerick and broke ground in March 2023. This “Next Generation Biotech” drug substance facility will be Lilly’s most technically advanced manufacturing site to date. At start-up, the campus is forecast to employ around 300 people across a wide range of disciplines.

The Lilly Ireland commercial team is part of our Northern European Hub. The team works across the country with healthcare stakeholders. The group's role is to help identify the needs of patients and healthcare professionals and to deliver pharmaceutical-based healthcare solutions. Their current areas of focus are diabetes, immunology, and oncology.
